After a week back in Cebu, we went to New Caledonia with a brief stopover in Tokyo, which warrants its own little post.
We landed around 2pm, checked in to our hotel, and took a bus into town that took an hour to get there, so we only had a few hours, but we used them well.
Since it was my first time in Tokyo, and we had so little time, my main goal was to see the famous Shibuya Crossing. We didn't bother going to Starbucks, which has the best view, because it also had huge lines and crowds of people vying for the best spot by the first storey windows, but we did get to see it nonetheless:
Twilight wasn't the best time for photos, I guess, plus it was very cloudy, with the typhoon approaching, so the photos aren't all that great.
We also couldn't miss the opportunity to have sushi at its source, so we went to an automated sushi train restaurant. You ordered on a touch screen by your seat, and your food arrived on one of two levels:
I had some traditional sushi:
And some less than usual, with corn on top:
We wandered the streets for a bit and took in the sights:
But overall we were quite tired, so we were back in our hotel by 9pm. It was a nice hotel, too, with traditional Japanese robes:
And the next day, adventure awaited:
